He's been that way since I got him at 2 months. I'm glad he loves people so much, but it's really a problem, whether walking in the park or someone comes to my house. 2 CommentsAnonymousContact your local positive reinforcement trainer. They will be able to help you with these steps. Out in a field or on a long sidewalk, figure out the distance a person has to be for your pup not to react to him/her. Praise and treat your pup, using a marker word such as "calm". Then have the person take three steps forward and stop. If your puppy reacts, wait until he has calmed down and then praise and treat him. Repeat these steps but do not push your pup to the point of where he can not calm down within 30 seconds. Backup and work further away and work up to the point of where he can be calm when people approach. Use the same training method with another calm dog.

He also pees a very small puddle ever time I come in from work. The excitement is uncontrollable. He is just so happy he wets himself. This dog will be well loved by my family and our cat who was raised with a dog. Is there somewhere in the Pittsburgh, Pa area that could help me? Also, I am on a fixed income. My pets are cared for by the vet and are groomed by a groomer. I need a buddy that I can love and be loved back. They will be able to help you much easier than random people on the internet. I am sorry for your loss and I hope you are able to find a new companion soon.

I would suggest an adult dog for you since you are unable to take the dog for long walks.AnonymousI have a Yorkie-Poo and he loves his walks and rides in the car. I am also disabled and would not be able to walk him. You could get a Teacup dog. I have heard that since they are small they do not need to be walked as they get enough exercise in the home. I will get one someday, but my house is full with 3 cats also right now. My Mom went to a shelter and asked specifically for a lap cat and boy did she get one! I have two Yorkie-Poos and they are the best dogs I've ever had. They're great watchdogs and very loving. They are both indoor dogs and use a potty pad to do their thing. I have one that looks like a black poodle. His name is Nicky and I love him to death. The other has the markings of a Yorkiepoo, and her name is Lexie.

They are around 10 lbs each and get enough exercise following me all over the house, playing with my two kitties, and just being Yorkiepoos. I think they are the perfect dog for a disabled person. I've had mine since they were puppies, and wouldn't trade them for the world! I wish I could help you find one, but I can encourage you by telling you that it's the perfect breed for you! Your home-made dog food is missing many key ingredients so I would suggest finding a good dog food your dog will eat.

A high-grade, grain-free dog food is the best thing to feed your dog. The protein level is high and the food should smell like the protein it's made from. Orijen, Acana, Go!, Now, Merrick, Taste of the Wild, Wilderness, etc. are all great brands to check out. You may want to add canned food to his diet, so he is interested in eating it. Do not give him human food anymore, and if he doesn't eat the food in 20 minutes, take it away and he gets nothing until you put the food back down and he eats it. His favorite is a chuck roast done in the slow cooker. Since he's so small I can afford to do this as he doesn't eat that much. The loss of a beloved pet is so very hard. But it is good to hear that you want to avoid the same mistake. As for breeders, the best thing you can do if you absolutely can not find anyone near you is to get references. As many as possible, and then contact them all. If you can meet any of them, do that as well. If you can not go and see the breeder, but have a family member or friend that you trust that can, have them go on your behalf.
