You may have toreuse the ball lever..

Just as described - this fit my tub perfectly! Works fine on my old Delta shower trim. The quirkiness of the handle pointing incorrectly is easy to get used to. Looks great and current. Love the product and high quality. Unfortunately, it didn't work for us. We ended up needing a shower valve replacement which was much more expensive. It depends how you look at it! Don't look at the handle as a pointer...because then you'll get Cold when you want Hot. Kit arrived quickly and well packaged. Installation was fairly quick and painless. One thing should be noted, however. We recently remodeled our bathroom replacing virtually everything but the shower valve itself. When I saw this kit I figured we could try it and see what we thought. Matches well with reglazed shower/tub. Everything looks brand new. Delta Bathroom Faucets 8 Inch SpreadRepairing ball-valve faucets requires only screwdrivers and pliers.

The ball-valve faucet was introduced by the Delta Faucet Company in 1960. The faucets operate by a simple principle: a notched plastic ball rotates over the water outlets and releases water when one of the notches aligns with one of the outlets. Springs and rubber gaskets keep everything watertight. If your shower faucet is leaking, it's usually because one or more of these auxiliary parts is worn out. Turn off the water to the shower. Go to the basement and turn off the dedicated shutoff valve for the bathroom. Alternatively, turn off the main water valve for the house. Remove the faucet handle. If its round or octagonal, pry off the cap, using a flathead screwdriver. Unscrew the screw holding the handle to the faucet stem, using a Phillips screwdriver. Alternatively, if the handle is a lever, unscrew the Allen screw under the lever with a 1/8-inch Allen wrench. Cover the shower faucet with a rag to protect its finish. Grip the collar that holds the ball assembly cover, using adjustable pliers.

Unscrew the collar until it is loose. When the collar is loose, hold down the cover while you continue to unscrew it to prevent the spring-loaded ball from popping out. Lift the cover off slowly and remove the ball. Put your hand underneath it so that you can catch the springs if they fall. If it's cracked, one of the notches is chipped or it is otherwise damaged, replace it. Take the springs out of the water-outlet holes if they haven't fallen out already. Pry out the rubber gaskets inside the holes. Replace the gaskets and the springs. If the kit contains a ball, replace that as well, if necessary or desired. Push the gaskets into the outlet hole, using a flathead screwdriver. Fit the springs inside them. Set the ball on top of the springs and push it down while you screw on the collar. Tighten the collar with adjustable pliers. Screw on the handle. Turn on the water and test the faucet. If it leaks, you may have to remove the ball again and readjust the springs.
