October 25, 2014 Subscribe I have a leaky Glacier Bay two-handle bathroom sink. I am attempting to replace the cartridge(s) but I am stuck, and also have a question. 1. In the following images, you can see I've gotten to the cartridges, but at this point I don't know how to get them out. I tried pulling straight up with pliers but it won't budge, and I also tried unscrewing by turning the white plastic nut but it doesn't seem to be going anywhere. Here are the photos: Photo1 | How do I get the cartridge out? 2. Perhaps more importantly, I have turned off the water under the sink on both sides, but the faucet is still dripping.

Rent An Rv Toms River Nj The easiest way to remove the old Cartridge is to use a Cartridge Puller. Make sure to follow the instructions for the Cartridge Puller, which can be purchased at your local home improvement store. Because Cartridges are unique to specific type of Faucets, you will want to take your old Cartridge to your local home improvement store and use the Perfect Match locator system from Danco or use the online Stem Finder.

This system makes it easy to find your replacement. Next, remove the Temperature Limit Stop, Key Stop, Stop Tube, and the Trim Plate (as needed to access Cartridge). Remove the Retainer Clip carefully as not to drop it behind wall. Using Silicone Grease, lubricate the inside of the Valve Body about 1”. Then lubricate the Exterior Rubber Components on the Cartridge with Silicone Grease as well. Insert the new Cartridge, Hot inlet Left Side, Cold inlet Right Side into the Valve Body with the tab stamped “HC” on top and with the Stem Notch down. Reinstall Trim Plate with original Screws. Reinstall the Retainer Clip, Stop Tube, Key Stop, and the Temperature Limit Stop, in that order. Slide the Handle onto the Stem or Handle Adapter onto the Stem. Do not use Handle Screws at this point. Turn the water supply back on and test for leaks and ensure the hot water temperature is adequate. Be sure not to exceed the maximum temperature allowed by local plumbing code.

Finally, secure the Handle with the Set Screw and your project is complete. How to Find Glacier Bay Faucet Parts If you have a Glacier Bay faucet, there is a good chance that it came from Home Depot, which is the sole outlet for that brand of plumbing products. It's no longer a futile exercise to go to Home Depot to look for parts for your faucet -- the big box store now stocks many replacement parts that you can find online as well as by visiting in person. If you have an older faucet, the folks at Home Depot may be able to order it, but it's possible to contact the manufacturer yourself. Glacier Bay faucets are manufactured by Globe Union Industrial Corp., a Chinese company that operates in the United States as Globe Union USA and in Canada as Globe Union Canada. This company has its own brand -- Gobo -- and it's a major supplier for such well-known faucet manufacturers as Chicago Faucets, Peerless, Danze and Toto. Glacier Bay -- like Pegasus and Aquadyne -- are private faucet labels for products distributed solely by Home Depot.

Globe Union's American headquarters are in Woodbridge, Illinois, and the telephone number is 888-328-2383. If you're in Canada, call 800-487-8372 to reach its head office in Montreal. For customer support for Glacier Bay faucets, call 800-220-3036, ext. 106. You'll need to know the model of the faucet; if you can't find that by comparing your faucet to models on the Glacier Bay page of the Home Depot site, look for a model number on the faucet body and quote that number to the service representative. Do not be surprised if the Glacier Bay replacement parts you are looking for are no longer in production.
