Goldendoodle may not be the right breed for you! Ask a QuestionAbout Goldendoodles AnonymousWould you buy a Goldendoodle puppy? I have a female 5-month-old puppy with all her shots. 2 CommentsAnonymousWe are looking for a female Goldendoodle puppy for our son's birthday and could take immediately. We have always had dogs and currently have 2 female Goldendoodles - Mouse, 8 and Beans, 5. They live inside with us. They also have a fenced in backyard that's 100 by 100. We live near St. Louis. AnonymousMay I ask why you don't want her? I have a 3 year old doodle who wants a sister. Is she an F1B by chance? AnonymousWhat does Fi, FiB, F2 mean? 2 CommentsAnonymousWhen breeding mixed breed dogs, F1 means that the dam and sire of the puppy are both purebred, such as a Golden Retriever and a Standard Poodle. F2 means that both dam and sire are F1 puppies, so both dam and sire are half and half of each breed. F1B or F2B means that one of the parents of the puppy is an F1 or F2 dog and the other parent of the puppy is a purebred.
Example: F1 Goldendoodle dam (Half Golden Retriever/Half Poodle) + Golden Retriever sire = F1B puppies.AnonymousJust for clarification, it's not often desired to breed an F1 Goldendoodle back to a Golden Retriever. The more desirable cross would be an F1 Goldendoodle back to a Poodle. These are the traditional F1B puppies.AnonymousHow big do Goldendoodles get? 2 CommentsAnonymousThe Golden Retriever/Poodle cross, otherwise known as the Goldendoodle is not a purebred dog. They are a mixture of two breeds, so there is no set standard for sizing when it comes to the dog itself. The best thing to do is to look at the sire and dam of the puppies so view how big they are. The puppies should grow to that size, if not a little smaller. But again, there is no standard size, so the puppy could even be bigger or much smaller then it's dam and sire.AnonymousGoldendoodles are commonly bred from a golden retriever/standard poodle cross and typically will range in size from 65-75 lbs. There are now breeders who offer a "mini-doodle", with the poodle parent being a smaller poodle.
These dogs would range in size from a smaller scale of their smaller parent to upwards of a Golden Retriever size. Females are typically smaller than males in any size Goldendoodle. Although not a recognized breed, Goldendoodles are a prized family pet due to their low shed coat and their demonstrated "hybrid vigor". Hybrid vigor is defined as the "increased vigor or general health, and disease resistance" as compared the inbreeding typical of more traditional dog breed. AnonymousWhat are Goldendoodles personality and character like? 3 CommentsAnonymousThe Golden Retriever, Poodle cross is a mixed breed of dog with no set standards. Which means that by any definition, there is no way of telling what temperament, size, coat your dog will have. Since there are many different 'types' of Goldendoodles, it is very hard to tell at puppy-hood what your dog will be like. But, by doing research and by meeting the dam and sire of your puppy, you should be able to get a glimpse of what your puppy's temperament may be like when he/she grows up.
The reason why there are over 450 standards and registered breeds out there is so that people can read about the standard of the dog and get a pretty good idea of what their dog will be like when fully grown. When mixing breeds together, there is no telling what the dog could turn out to be like. That is a risk you take by getting a mixed breed dog.AnonymousMine is a gentle giant. He weighs 85 pounds and is an inside dog. He is very gentle. He loves other dogs. They are like any other breed. They need to be socialized and trained. Mine is a pleaser. He will do whatever I tell him to just to make me happy. They need exercise as he tends to get lazy in the house. AnonymousMy dog was the dog of my life. He was a human dog! Everyone in my family and extended family loved him. He looked like a puppy until he died at 12 1/2. He got Lyme disease and anaplasmosis which he then got cancer but it was the Lyme that took him out. I miss him everyday. Walked off leash, easy to train, lots of energy but most happy being with his person.
He loved people and all animals. Everyone says he was the sweetie at dog they ever met. I had so many offers to take him. Friends called him Hollywood . He could get bored if left alone too long. You could see it in his eyes. Sensitive stomach, loved to bring gifts to people, especially shoes so you were always missing one. He was 76 pounds. He looked bigger due to hair but if I cut him he was skinny. Smarter then my golden. Shed in clumps when he was older. Easy to scoop up! Hope that helpsAnonymousDo Goldendoodles like to swim? 3 CommentsAnonymousConsidering the fact that both purebred Golden Retrievers and purebred Poodles are waterdogs, then yes, most likely, Goldendoodles like to swim. However, not all individual dogs conform to breed standards. AnonymousI have a Goldendoodle and he is not fond of the water. I have a friend that has one and hers love water. I think it just depends on the dog. AnonymousI also have a Goldendoodle and he does not like the water at all. I would agree with the previous statement.
