The once-rural intersection, now a heavily traveled route along Dublin’s quickly growing western border with Jerome Township, will see double the vehicle traffic by 2020 under any scenario, Carpenter Marty Transportation concluded. “The existing intersection of Hyland Croy Road and Post Road is congested, and fails under projected 2016 traffic volumes,” reads the report, commissioned by Union County and the city of Dublin as part of a rezoning process.

“The majority of future roadway improvements are necessary without the Jacquemin Farms development due to background traffic growth and other area developments such as Jerome Village, Tartan Ridge, Riviera, Halls Corner, etc.” Carpenter Marty Transportation’s report ( read it here) is being reviewed by public officials as they consider Schottenstein Real Estate Group’s proposal for 300 apartments in 30 buildings, plus a 250-bed assisted-living facility on the site of the family-owned pick-your-own fruits and vegetables farm. Officials will reconvene July 27 at a Jerome Township zoning commission meeting. Carpenter Marty’s 261-page report said Schottenstein’s proposal obviously would exacerbate traffic along the north-south Hyland Croy. The study projects next year 3,634 vehicles will travel through the intersection at Hyland Croy and Post during a given peak commuting hour. Ten years later, even without Schottenstein’s project, that’s expected to climb to 6,900 vehicles.
