Julius Xavier Hexon, who faced a potential term of life imprisonment, was ordered by U.S. District Judge Garr M. King to serve his time and then be put under post-prison supervision until he dies. Hexon, 45, met the girl on a T-Mobile social networking site in 2005. Her screen name was "misscuteness," his was "Mrbadboy." They texted each other often, and soon he sent her a Sanyo flip-style phone. She used it to take sexually explicit photos and videos of herself, and she sent them to Hexon's phone or to one of his email accounts. What happened over the next couple of years is recorded in hearing transcripts and other court documents: Hexon traveled to Salem in March 2006, took a room at the Crossland Economy Suites Motel and brought the girl there for sex. He had condoms and sex toys. The following December, shortly before the girls's 16th birthday, Hexon returned to the Crossland. There, as the girl performed a sex act on him -- something he videotaped -- he told her, "This is your sweet sixteen birthday present."

Hexon moved to the Happy Valley area in July 2007 to be closer to the girl. Months passed before authorities learned of their relationship -- and only after a spat at the motel caused the girl to tell her grandmother what had happened. On the evening of Nov. 3, 2007, Hexon answered a knock on his door at the Crossland and found Salem police. When officers identified themselves, he said, "Oh God" and stepped away from the door. The 6-foot-3, 300 pound Hexon sat at the defense table today wearing a blue jail-issue jumpsuit and glasses with thick black frames. He listened as his victim told the court that he stole her virginity at 15. Trial memorandum"It's pretty much ruined my life," she said. "I don't want him to be able to do this to another teenager. Please don't let him out soon." A jury found Hexon guilty last July of producing and possessing child pornography and traveling across state lines to have sexual contact with a minor. While Hexon apologized to his victim and her family in court today, he said he had loved her and accused Assistant U.S. Attorney Gary Y. Sussman of coaching the girl to change her story in order to win a conviction.
