Y-Farms is a family owned and operated dog kennel located in Zachary, Louisiana. We offer Dog Boarding, Puppy training, Gun Dog training, AKC/UKC Hunt Test training, Blood Trail training & All Breeds Obedience training. Also, we have occasional litters of retriever puppies for sale. Our kennel is located at our family farm, we are the only kennel in the state of Louisiana that offers so many different services. Before we know it the weather will be turning cooler & it will be Duck Season. Let us know if your dog needs to begin retriever training or if he just needs a tune-up. Our love for the Labrador Retriever gave us the desire to produce a dog with a good temperament and healthy genetic background.  All of our dogs are lovingly raised by our entire family.  With four children of preschool-high school age, the puppies are well played with and handled from the moment they are born.

The puppies have on multiple occasions been known to be seen wrapped in blankets, being pushed around the yard in strollers, or been snuck into the house as babies!  Our children actively take part in the care and raising of the puppies, with each having specific tasks involved with the puppies.Outdoor Furniture Repairs Central Coast Nsw The overall health, temperament, and conformation of each individual dog is taken into consideration before each breeding.  Houses For Sale In Lavender GrangeWe try to compliment one dogs weaknesses with another’s strengths to produce  the best possible puppy.  Super Swamper Tires On EbayKeeping in mind that there is no perfect dog out there, we take into consideration every aspect of each dog. 

One dog may have a beautiful conformation, a very desirable temperament, and clear eyes, but may be weak in the hips or elbows. Through conversations with our veterinarian and using our own experiences from the past, we would try to match that dog to one with stronger joints.    Keep in mind that genetic testing is not a guarantee that the puppies will have perfect joints and eyes, but it is a good insurance policy.  If both parents have good joints and eyes, there is less chance that the puppies will be affected.  We have recently had all our breeding adults tested for Centronuclear Myopothy (CNM) which is a hereditary disease becoming more common in the Labrador Retriever.  All of our dogs were cleared and given a registration number.  Any offspring coming from parents that have both been cleared have no chance of carrying the gene and therefore cannot spread the disease.  Centronuclear Myopothy is a degenerative disease that can leave a dog completely crippled at a very young age. 

True Labrador Retriever temperament is as much a hallmark of the breed as the “otter” tail.  The ideal disposition is one of a kindly, outgoing, tractable nature; eager to please and non-aggressive towards man or animal.  The Labrador Retriever has much that appeals to people;  his gentle ways, intelligence and adaptability make him an ideal dog.
