Maine Coon Cats For Sale Ga

Posted 28 December 2012 - 11:20 PM My husband and I have officially agreed to start looking for another MC later on this coming year, and I want to start researching now for reputable breeders. I wanted to know if anyone has had experience with CongoCoons? If you like the very large ears and muzzles then they definitely emphasize this over the more traditional look that is more common in North America and true to the original look of the breed. IMHO they look like another breed of cat entirely. firedancer, gharrissc and Maebsthecat like this Posted 03 January 2013 - 02:32 PM I will add to LilyC's recommendations by HIGHLY recommending : Rickoons, Cleveland Ohio.

The beautiful selection of kittens for sale on her web site was truly a sight to behold. All "reseved" or sold at first glance. We followed the (STRICT) guidelines for emailing "Mitzy" - and after a few attempts at getting it "wrong" - Mitzy finally replyed with one scentance - "Watch my website for available kittens, then email me with your selection" We replyed with a request to visit the cattery before purchasing and received no answer.
But we were determined to wait and watch the site for just the right boy.No help from Mitzi at all... no reply's to very standard (and simple questions) and absolutley NO downpayment to hold a kitten. It felt as though we were being put in a position to compete with others on a first come -"winner" gets the prize - situation, and we didnt like it one bit.We could have moved on to another breeder right then, but having rescued Coons before - we sort of took it on as a challange just to see what the cattery looked like first hand. After watching the website for months, we finally saw a beautiful silver boy appear on the "Kittens for sale" link and immediately emailed Mitzy with a request (per her instructions). Of course someone had already put dibbs on the kitten, so we "refreshed" the page and emailed again. This went on 3 times before we finally "won" a reseved title and received an email confirmation from Mitzi.Eventhough she gives a phone number to her cattery - we NEVER recieved a phone call or reply to standard inquiry.
EMAIL ONLYWe were told the kitten would be ready for pickup in two weeks and she would email us to come get it. (sound like a loving environment??) Remember - you DO NOT GET TO SPEAK TO MITZI - only email. We finally got an email, arranged a pick-up appointment and made the drive from Atlanta to Alalbama to see the cattery - at this point we had no intention of buying a specialty kitten for $1,500.00 which by the time we "landed" a reserve was all she had left for sale.Coyote Pups For Sale OregonInteresting. The cattery was also "interesting" - on first appearance the property was gated and looked somewhat well dressed from the outside. Alienware Laptops Bid Or BuyNice house, land, wood art in the yard - etc. Where Can I Buy Cat Crap Anti Fog
Once inside we could tell things were a little "off"ALL of the breeding cats were in outdoor kennels. The dressing of the kennels were by appearance rustic cabin looking - not too bad, but still outside. And so was the kitten "house" - she must have had these areas designed with all the money she was making off these cats, but still... we were leary and ready to meet this "Mitzi" person. We were greeted at the driveway by Mitzi in bibb overalls - with a kitten pocking it's little head out of her pouch - she was kind but intense and showed us to the kitten house - where all the kittens to be picked up were in cages stacked on top of each other. We saw the little boy we had reserved, and pulled him from the cage -As you must know, once you hold one of these little angels in your arms, you are hooked. We did not want to put him back in the cage and leave him there. We didnt want any of the other cats or kittens to be in the cages either - but we were there to see the cattery, and so we reluctantly put him back.
Mitzi showed us her "farm" with guinea hens mulling about on the grounds and large cat houses neatly packed under log cabin style roofs - all very stylish... until you look closely.I am sure Mitzi has her hands full etc..but the day we arrived the cages were not very clean, and the breeding pairs (eventhough they had plenty of room) - were ALL in cages. She was surely in the "business" of Coon Sale. After a short conversation, my parter and I decided to buy the kitten we held and get out of there, knowing we were letting go of a LOT of cash, with no guarantee the kitten would be healthy. Yes she offered up paperwork - a few toys, and a little standard advice on the kitten, but we were seriously put off by Mitzi and her cash making machine.** NOTE ** This is a lengthy review because you will NOT get information on the CongoCoon Cattery from Mitzi or other reviewers - we have looked and looked for ANY review - on multiple sites including this one - and can find NOTHING on the Congo Coon Cattery - we DO find that odd
Once we got the kitten settled into one of our spare bedrooms with all the love and attention we could offer - we called our vet (who makes house calls by the way) and got our first check up.Start with the kitten on dry "Purina Kitten Chow" - certainly not our choice. We immediately put him on a healthy wet food diet - and you would have thought he was starving.. crying as he inhaled his food! .. our vet said he was very underweight for his breed and age so I guess he had been starving. The next week we called the vet back - the poor boy had liquid for poop and he was not doing well with the litter box - he had one very "weepy" eye that just would not clear up.After a stool sample was tested, it came back positive for Giardia lamblia - Giardia lamblia is a single-celled protozoan parasite that lives in the intestine of infected humans or animals. It is found on surfaces or in soil, food, or water that has been contaminated with the feces from infected animals. Our vet instructed us to contact the breeder - yeah, right... we emailed (of course) got no reply (expected) -** The case was severe and should be noted by anyone wanting to purchase a Cono Coon from Mitzi.Today, our boy is healthy, and in a loving environment.
This is because WE are healthy and loving - and make great efforts to keep our animals the same. The moral here... please be advised about Congo Coon Cattery - you will get NO help, NO reasurrance, advice, personal reply, phone call, history, review, permission to visit, health guarantee, or warm fuzzy feeling from Mitzi.Buy at your own risk.C. So far he seems to have recovered from the caged treatment and malnourishment, and we are looking forward to many years of love with him regardless of his designer genes.
