On the night of March 15, 2016, an electrical fire destroyed our shelter. First responders battled the fire for three hours while volunteers, board members, and staff watched, helpless to save the animals inside. Ultimately, the fire took the lives of 74 of our dogs. Eleven dogs and all of our cats survived. The cats went into foster care that night. The eleven surviving dogs spent weeks in the clinic, recovering from smoke inhalation before being placed into foster homes while we worked on plans for moving forward. We are now working out of several temporary buildings which sit in front of the remaining shell of our former shelter.
