All wiggles and wags, Wylie is a happy dog who is quick to make friends. Between his sweet demeanor and perky personality, he would be the perfect addition to almost any family. The Licking County Animal Shelter will be offering added value to their dog adoptions beginning Sunday May 1st. Adoptions will include the Licking County dog registration, vaccinations for DPP and Bordetella, Microchip and a vet visit to their contract veterinarian for booster vaccinations, a rabies vaccination and spay or neuter. The adopter gets the new dog with all of these extras for $125. On May 1st potential adopters will also see a new policy regarding very popular dogs that have a number of people wanting to adopt it. While a stray dog is being held in its mandatory legal holding period at the shelter interested persons will now have the opportunity to place a sealed pledge on a dog they would like to adopt from the shelter. A pledge must be for at least one dollar over the regular adoption cost for the dog.

There is no limit on how many people may pledge or how much the pledge is for. The pledge will be sealed and held at the shelter until 8 am on the first day the dog is available for adoption to the public. The high pledge will be the new owner of the dog. Any additional funds generated by the sealed pledge adoptions will be used for medical expenses of the shelter dogs. Veterans now have an opportunity to adopt dogs from the Licking County Animal Shelter at a reduced rate with the assistance of the Blue Star Mothers Chapter OH59. Blue Star Mothers will provide a certificate for $50 towards the adoption of a dog from the Licking County Animal Shelter by an approved honorably discharged veteran.
