Rating: Not yet rated Rate My mom is a breeder in the KC, MO area.   If you don't mind me asking, what is the going rate?  I am looking for a smaller sized one but it appears that all of them that I have seen are 800 to 3500 which is crazy!   Beware of breeders that sell the smallest dogs for outrageous prices.  'Teacup' chihuahuas are a description, not a different or rarer breed.  These tiny dogs tend to have more health problems and be much more fragile.  

I have a 2.5 pounder and a 5 pounder, the little one costs me a lot more in vet bills and etc. but is no more loving and loyal than the larger one.  I knew she was going to cost me more, but I fell in love with her and accepted that.  I wouldn't have gone looking specifically for a tiny dog. A good quality dog with papers should run 300 - 500, a show quality animal will cost more but should definitely come with a guarantee that if it turns out to be unfit for the show ring as it grows up, you have the right to return it for replacement or refund. I just got a 4 month old male chihuahua from a breeder near Rolla for a VERY reasonable price.  I know that it is a little bit of a drive, but he was totally worth it.   I don't know if you found your chihuahua yet, but I know of a great breeder that should be having pups this week.  She is in House Springs, MO.  Not far from Six flags. I have a 4 month old teacup, he is a rare blue fawn and ACA registered, I got him from a breeder in Fruitland MO, which is about an hour and a half south of St Louis.  

He was only $250.  I am looking to find a female to mate him with for one female puppy to give to my mother. Ya i'm looking for a chihuahua too but the cheapest i found was $95. I got a male fawn chihuahua with akc papers. The breeder told me that he would be 4 pounds when he grew up and that his ears would stand up with age. She was a fake. He got to be 14 pounds and his ears didn't stand. he was $800 and he was rip off. Ask for a pedigree if you want what you are paying for! Answer by Brian Boru Every time you buy a dog from a breeder or a pet store you are sentencing a dog in a shelter to death. PLEASE, go to your local shelter and adopt from there.
