Minor flaws, scuffs and scratches just add to the character, so please do not expect perfect objects. I have already made MASSIVE hints that I would like the Kate Spade necklace to appear under the Christmas tree. There are so many gorgeous ideas to steal from this laid back and super stylish affair, from the potted plant favours to the giant-letter guest book to the frankly amazing marquee lighting and everything else in-between.

One of my most favourite weddings of 2013. I would have absolutely loved to have been a guest. We had our wedding at Will’s parents house.

Persian Kitten For Sale In OklahomaSharpham Park has also been our home for the past 2 years so it was handy being around for the set up!
Afghan Hound For Sale Miami I wanted my look to be soft, ethereal and vintage. Local Bristol make up artist Inma Azorin did my hair and make up! She is brilliant at Vintage Hair and runs a regular pop up diy hair salon. She introduced me to Temptu Pro Silicon Foundation- tear and sweat proof! I Can’t recommend this product enough.

I designed my dress myself, I had a hard time finding ‘the perfect dress’. Having had a design background I thought it was only natural for me to design the dress myself with the help of my brilliant dressmaker Bobby Sharp in Glastonbury. It was great having a comvertible dress, being able to dance in a shorter skirt meant that I didn’t have to worry about my heel going through my train. The vintage embroidered shawl was my something borrowed piece from my mother-in-law. This was perfect when it got a bit chilly in the evening! I kept accessories fairly simple. I had a pair of my grandmothers pearl earrings, a Kate Spade pearl cluster necklace and I wore a small diamond bracelet that was given to me at my Christening. I always wanted a veil and loved the idea of wearing one, but because the dress was such a statement, I went for a sweet floral headpiece. We didn’t want everything to look too coordinated – we gave the bridesmaids a colour scheme (coral) and they all chose their own dresses.

We gave the groomsmen a little more freedom but gave them each a liberty floral print pocket square (handmade by me) that matched the flower girls. The paige boy suits were from Monsoon and I made the Flowergirl dresses from Liberty fabric picked up at a flea market. The theme of our wedding was a rustic vintage garden party. Aside from the bridesmaids and flowers which were in hues of Coral and soft pink, there was no real colour scheme. We wanted everything to feel relaxed, homemade and vintage with bursts of our own eclectic taste. Mismatched Vintage China helped create that look and small vintage glass bottles were filled with flowers and paired with small succulents in terracotta pots. We had a recurring theme of “2 peas in a pod’ from the design of our invitations. So we placed a wheelbarrow in the reception room filled with soil and small seed packets for our guests to take home. We made a lot of the décor ourself including the giant lampshade chandeliers, the mason jar lights, the origami heart name settings.

We had haybales as seating (they were borrowed from a local farm) and covered them with old vintage quilts found at a flea market. Our bar was made from 2 old cider barrels, and we made bar menus from old bits of wood, taken from a reclamation yard. Our drinks were kept cool in ice in old tin baths. We also put some money into renting festoonlighting because it looked great in the evening! Thanks to Nicky Llewellyn Flowers – our blooms looked exactly the way we wanted them too. Because I am Australian, we wanted to incorporate this into the flowers and therefore had King Proteas, Eucalyptus and succulents in the bouquets. We then gave her free reign to select flowers that would match the relaxed feel of the day. Sometimes when you are planning a wedding = the actual ceremony can seem like such a small part of the day BUT remember it’s the most important! It’s what everyone has come to see!… so make it something special. We had our old family friend Canon John Shepherd do the ceremony for us which made it really intimate and personal.

We kept it light hearted and had a reading of Edward Leah’s The Owl and the Pussycat. The processional was a piano performance of Claire De Lune by Debussy and the recessional was a piece by Stevie Wonder – I Do. The reception was a lovely garden party. We decided not to spend money on a band – Will is a DJ so we had a pretty good selection of DJs throughout the evening! Would like to take the time to thank Dan Savidge and Tam Cooper for the efforts on the music! We were all still dancing at 2am! Our food was meant to be relaxed and low key- We had an Aussie style BBQ – three different meats (chicken, lamb and fish) served with 3 different sides. We wanted it to be a talking point between guests which is why each table were served platters and the guests could help themselves – this got conversation going. We also wanted it to be colourful and summery. The great thing was that the BBQ was just outside the marquee and all the guests could see and smell the meat being cooked, which gave it a slightly theatrical feel.

The desserts were vintage tea cups filled with pannacotta and served with a side biscuit. We also had vintage cake stands filled with Salted Chocolate Tortes and Chocolate dipped strawberries. These went perfectly with the champagne that was then poured out for the speeches. For the late evening, we had a good old fashioned hog roast which went down a treat – again something quite theatrical and dramatic about seeing a full pig on a spit. Luckily I have had a load of experience on Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to do all the paper goods myself. It saved me a lot of money but it also took a lot of time. I would only suggest to brides who have lots of time on their hands in the evening. We did the orders of service, the save the dates, the invites and place cards which were little origami hearts with Dymo Label name tags. I will be offering a design service through my company Joanie Boney China Hire – full portfolio coming soon. It was a pretty special moment when my husband had a present delivered to my hotel room the evening before the wedding: it was all my invites and save the dates professionally framed in oak.
