Our cats, who are probably about "medium" on the pickiness scale but demand variety, have no problem eating up a can of H&G lamb once a week or so but they'll only pick at a very occasional can of lamb/chicken/salmon. And they just sniff and walk away from the chicken or beef! I don't feed much fish so it matters less to me that trout and salmon weren't exactly hits, either. To be fair, I haven't tried them on rabbit or pork. Despite all that, I'd still recommend giving H&G foods a try. They're a great value if you can find them, most are very low in carbs, there's no carrageenan, and many flavors are perfect for cats who can only eat one protein. Pros: Low Carbs , Grain Free Cons: My cats would not eat it for some reason .. I really wish they liked but I tried 3 different flavors and they just sniffed it and walked away .. My three cats like the Salmon variety of this food. My Siamese is allergic to beef and poultry so I need to be careful with what I give her. She can be somewhat picky as well, but does like this product.

My other two are not breeds and eat anything, but seem to like this variety a great deal. I buy it regularly. Pros: Good ingredients, they like itCons: Inconsistent, hard to get My cats will eat it, and the ingredients seem pretty good for the most part. It seems low grain, there was some grain though. My boys liked it. However, it looked different in each can, like the texture and consistency. I also have only found it in one store. Pros: Inexpensive, grain free, high protein Cons: A little hard to find, guar gum I've been feeding Alaina, my picky and sensitive-stomach cat, the Hound and Gatos beef variety for 2 years and she finishes the bowl every time. The high protein content is the main pro of this food, and it's also pretty inexpensive compared to other canned varieties. It's also grain free. Recommend for cats who need a higher protein content and those with grain allergies. Pros: Grain Free, High Protein, Low CostCons: Guar Gum, Sometimes Odd Looking

The beef variety of H&G's line is a favorite in our home, although other flavors are not.  It's one of the less expensive brands out there with a high protein content and grain free.  I like that it is just beef with nothing else added.  There are times when it has a strange kind of look to it but I've been assured that it's just the guar gum congealing in it (I usually pull it out when I am able to).  Overall a good choice for those looking to save costs and provide a source of a single protein. Pros: 98% meat Cons: Not widely distributed in pet stores has to be ordered online for many. Both of my cats are extremely picky about wet food.  They also want a variety in their wet food.  My IBD kitty can't tolerate beef and has recently developed an allergy to chicken which makes variety difficult without feeding too much fish.  This food is very simple, it's almost entirely meat, duck liver, and necessary supplements.  It also doesn't contain any of the things that have been associated with aggravating IBD.

My picky kitties loved this food.  My little girl kitty acted like she hadn't eaten in a week when she was eating this. Pros: High Protein/low carb, no carrageenan, U.S. sourced meatsCons: Hard to find, rabbit flavor expensive The Hound and Gatos brand offers simple, high protein/low carb food. Unlike other brands, there are no grains, carrots, blueberries, or other fruits/vegetables. My kitty did not take to the Hound and Gatos chicken, but she loved their rabbit. Rabbit is supposed to taste like chicken but a little more gamey, so possibly this flavor is a little more exciting. Rabbit is a more exotic meat and Hound and Gatos sources all their meat from the U.S., so this flavor is more expensive than their other flavors. Pros: No carrageenan, 98% meat Dislike the number of thickeners/gums. Avoids all of the ingredients that the company believes are linked with the illnesses in cats and dogs: No soy, grains, glutens, artificial preservatives, artificial colors, artificial flavors, beef liver and chicken liver.
