Cutting-edge technology in the unique tread pattern and tyre’s composition has created a performance tyre that delivers an incredible driving experience for sports car drivers and enthusiasts.Precise handling and cornering performanceIncreased handling stability provides powerful traction in dry conditionsBetter groove drainage and anti-hydroplaning performanceEnhanced wet braking capabilities and reduced irregular wear FOBO expands into truck tyre pressure monitoring FOBO, a group of specialists in integrating Bluetooth technology into modern electronics, are introducing their newest innovation FOBO Ultra to the Malaysia public and the world at a product launch at Zebra Square, Kuala Lumpur. FOBO Ultra, an expansion of the technologies behind FOBO Tire and FOBO Bike, is designed specifically for FOBO Ultra is the World’s first wireless Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) for heavy vehicles using Bluetooth 4.1.
With its intelligent In-Car monitoring unit, FOBO Ultra works either directly with a qualified Android or iOS smartphones and tablets or on its own. It can monitor up to 1296 kPa(188 psi) and give an alert via the In-Car unit or a qualified smart device. FOBO Ultra incorporates their proprietary 24/7 continuous monitoring even when the vehicle’s ignition is switched off. As soon as a user with FOBO App installed in a qualified smart device is within Bluetooth range, the user will get an update of the tyre pressure information or an alert if the pre-set tire threshold FOBO Ultra, with its patent pending CrossPair technology, can monitor multiple vehicles in each App installed in a qualified smart device. With FOBOShare, multiple authorised users can receive data from the cloud and also data directly from the FOBO Ultra sensors while transmitting live data back to the main user. FOBOCluster is a core feature that monitors multiple trailer configurations through its patent pending FIT Technology.
A key benefit of FOBOCluster facilitates a seamless Drop and Hook procedure for trailers. It allows trailers equipped with FOBO Ultra to seamlessly connect and disconnect from different in-car units to form a new chain of clusters with the FIT Technology. FOBO Ultra also comes with an optional Fleet Management module which allows enterprise users to remotely monitor their fleet. This gives fleet management an easy way to monitor and ensure optimal tyre pressure maintenance that would save time and costs in the long run. “The philosophy of any FOBO product is about technology made simple which is why we designed our FOBO products that is intuitive for everyday use. Simplicity is about organising complexity. With the latest addition of FOBO Ultra to our product range, we have provided a simple yet smart TPMS solution to almost any wheel that you can imagine.”, says James Lim, Managing Director of Salutica Berhad. “We challenged ourselves to create a TPMS that measures up to 1300 kPa and operates under harsh conditions with robust signal strength that works effectively in various commercial vehicle configurations.
“Our sensors are lightweight and are equipped with user replaceable batteries. FOBO Ultra truly reflects our engineering efforts and expertise in meeting this challenge”. FOBO already sells its innovative monitors for cars and bikes. Previous story Ford ups ante for ride-hailing, says will have fully autonomous vehicle ready in 2021 Next story AAM broke? The SUV is offered in four variants – 2.0 C, 2.0 S, XD and XDL, with the 2.5 S now being removed from the line-up. On the powertrain front, the 2.0 litre four-cylinder SkyActiv-G petrol engine continues to serve in the 2.0 C and 2.0 S, providing 165 PS and 210 Nm. The mill is now compatible with E85 gasohol – just like in the Mazda 3 and CX-3. As previously mentioned, the 2.5 S is no longer part of the line-up. Therefore, the 2.5 litre four-cylinder SkyActiv-G mill will no longer be offered for the Thai market.
In place of the 2.5 S is a new XD variant, which carries a 2.2 litre turbocharged four-cylinder SkyActiv-D diesel engine. The top-of-the-line XDL variant also carries the same oil burner. All engines are mated to a six-speed SkyActiv-Drive automatic, but only 2.0 C and 2.0 S come with a drive selection switch (Sport mode) with Mazda’s i-Activ all-wheel drive system reserved for the XDL. The remaining variants meanwhile, are all two-wheel drive by default. Exterior changes on the CX-5 include a new front grille design similar to ours, and new LED headlights, tail lights, fog lamps and DRLs (2.0 S, XD and XDL). The 2.0 C meanwhile, gets halogens for all its lighting units. Wheels fitted for the petrol variants are 17 inches in size, with larger 19-inch alloys reserved for the diesel CX-5s, wearing a similar design to what we get here (no two-tone design like in other markets). Inside, all variants now benefit from an eight-way power adjustable seat with power lumbar adjustment on the driver’s side.
Mazda’s latest MZD Connect also makes its way into the CX-5. The infotainment system is linked to a Bose nine-speaker surround sound system on the diesel variants, while the petrol CX-5s get six-speaker setup. As for the new technologies, only the CX-5 XDL gains Mazda’s i-ActiveSense package, which includes the brand’s Adaptive LED Headlamps (ALH) that divides the high beam light source into multiple units that turn on & off individually so as not to blind oncoming drivers. Other components within the suite include Lane Departure Warning System, Lane-Keep Assist System, Smart City Brake Support (forward and reverse) and Driver Attention Alert. As for variants without the package, they still have systems like Advanced Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, four-wheel ABS, airbags, Dynamic Stability Control, Traction Control System, Hill Launch Assist and tyre pressure monitoring system (standard on the XDL). Price-wise, the diesel CX-5s are now affordable as a result of Thailand’s new excise tax rules based on CO2 emissions.
