Free Space Rental for Yard Sale Items 2016 marks the new Flea Market selling year. The January and February Markets can be quite cool but every now and again, in Mississippi, we get those sunny 65 and 70 degree days that make for some of the best shopping weekends of the year! This winter and into the Spring of 2016, we will be promoting our new Carport sale area.  By downloading and printing a $5.00 coupon, the space will be free of charge, certain rules and regulations do apply.  This new area is to help local residents have a place to bring their yard sale items without having to pay high rent charges up and down the Highway and also give them access to the large crowds of First Monday.
It's a win-win for everybody so make plans to clean out the attic or the shop and bring those previously used items to First Monday for the Largest Yard Sale in North Mississippi. More details on the Carport/Yard Sale page. Lowes Faux White BlindsLet's make First Monday the largest yard sale in North Mississippi!Yorkie Poo Puppies For Sale Delaware New Era for First MondayBelgian Malinois Puppies For Sale In Ms and has taken place every month since; rain or shine, sleet or snow. It started as a day set aside once a month for people to come together and trade their wares with others. It remains that to this day. We like to say you can find anything at First Monday, from antiques to "as seen on TV" products, to a 100 year old cast iron skillet in need of a little love, to designer clothes, to pedigree puppies & black & tan hounds, to finger-licking' barbecue & gyro sandwiches and everything in between.
The place has a way about it, a call to yesteryear when things were simpler. When you stop by, take a leisurely stroll down the dusty aisles and enjoy the sights and sounds of days gone past, where the streets bustle with activity, people shopping, sharing stories, snacking on a hot dog, finding odd items, comparing prices and, of course, you can always hear some good old fashioned "haggling." It's this interaction between the vendors and their customers that makes First Monday unique to all other Flea Markets in the Mid-South.  It's real people talking and trading with real people. After building up and managing First Monday since 1974 with his wife, Betty, and their children, Wayne Windham passed away on November 15, 2014. He dedicated his entire life to God, his family, and to his work, and with all three built the renowned institution in place today. As an ambitious small-business man, Wayne sought to revive the tradition of First Monday in Ripley, MS, for generations to come, where craftsmen and farmers and folks from all over could come and meet and do business with one another the old fashioned way: with trades, hand shakes, and bona fide retail.
To build this market up was no small feat and it was certainly not done in a day or two. It started with just 2 rows and about 30 dealers back then. They added water, electric, and gravel to each section as the market grew. By the mid-90's there were over 1200 spots and about 600 permanent dealers. In 1989, they added the Trader's Inn Restaurant to provide customers and dealers a place to sit down and enjoy a home cooked meal at a reasonable price, run by his children and grandchildren and many more dear friends over the years. Currently the market is managed Wayne and Betty's children, Jerry Windham & Cheryl Thurmond, along with their spouses, Allison Windham & Keith Thurmond. With our goal to restore First Monday to its fullest potential, we are making changes to the marketing and to the grounds layout. We are committed to evolving our market with renewed interest in the preferences of the customers and to finding new and creative ways to better serve those customers. First Monday has been around for over a 120 years and I'm sure it will be here 120 more.
If you've never been to First Monday, come check us out. If you remember coming as a youngster, bring your own youngsters and continue this time honored tradition of buying, selling, and trading. We hope you can join us sometime, either as a vendor or a shopper and experience the fellowship of doing business with friends and neighbors. And don't leave without a fried pie, a funnel cake, or a turkey leg! It's hard to sit and compose this message, but here I am. 3 ½ years ago, I got this “crazy” idea to start trying to help animals at a high kill, rural west Tennessee animal shelter I lived close to. No one else was helping them. Paws and Claw in Tipton County was “rockin” helping their shelter and Heather gave me these words of advice; If you are going to help THAT shelter- ONLY focus on THAT shelter. /campaigns/32238PUPPY FOOD DONATIONS DESPERATELY NEEDED~Ripley Animal RescueFormer fosters Johnny and Penny have a rough life...Ripley Animal RescueTennessee Labs enjoying one of 3 pools.
